Art was passed down in the genes - my grandfathers were both craftsmen in different ways. Both were avid woodworkers, and my father's father had a gift for drawing that I see reflected in me. His old sketches of athletes hung around the desk at his house where I would doodle. And seeing them now, I can see my own style in a way.

I studied graphic design at college and designed for a few years, opening my shop at the end. Illustration had always been my passion, and to paint for a living is a dream come true.

My first trip to Paris was inspiring in so many ways, the art, architecture, the street style, and the food of course. Its spirit, of enjoying the luxury of each day, and doing the work that you truly love, compelled me to open my shop.

Painting has always been my favorite art form. It has the power to elevate an ordinary object to something cherished in your home, much more than a photograph does. A portrait idealizes a person, a place, in a way that Photoshop does not achieve. This is what fascinates me, and it is what drives what I do.
