Mat Colors & Ply Options
Choose between 4-ply or 8-ply white and black mats along with other color options like antique white, cream, charcoal, and cool gray. Contact us for special color or double matting requests. Customize your mat width exactly to your liking. We frame with acid-free, conservation matboards from Crescent due to their aesthetic and archival qualities.
Non-Glare and UV Protective Glazes
For the glaze, acrylic is used (instead of traditional glass) due to its lighter weight, strength and level of clarity. We offer premium acrylics including UV protective glaze, Non-Glare, and Optium Museum.

How do I choose the right frame style for my artwork? +
The great thing about online framing is that you can easily try out a range of options to see what works best for your artwork and space. Gallery style black and white frames are clean and timeless, natural wood profiles add warmth, and some of our metallic finishes offer an even more modern look. Our general advice is to always trust your eye and personal style.
Some tools to help as you are customizing:
Upload an image of your artwork with the Preview Image button to visualize it inside the frame.
Use the Golden Ratio button to set a mat size and profile width balanced to the dimensions of your artwork.

Are Level Frames' materials archival quality? +
Yes, and unlike many frame shops, we don't charge extra for it. Archival (or conservation) framing uses materials designed to protect artwork from acid, UV light, and moisture damage over time.
Every Level Frames order includes acid-free conservation backing boards and matting from Crescent, as well as Tru Vue framer's grade acrylic as standard. You can upgrade your glaze to 99% UV-protection, Non-glare or even Optium Museum Acrylic.
What kind of items can I custom frame? +
You can custom frame paper-based items such as art prints, posters, diplomas and certificates, children's artwork, and more. We can send you the frame with instructions for framing at home, or you can send your items to our studio for framing.
We can also print and frame photos from a digital image upload.
Do I mail my artwork to you framing? +
It's completely up to you! We can send a custom-built frame that you can assemble at home in minutes, or you can send the artwork to our studio to be framed and sent back ready to hang. Here's the breakdown on these two options.
At Home framing is our fastest and most popular option, most orders arrive in about one week. You'll receive a museum-quality frame sized to fit your print or poster, along with concise instructions and a tool kit. Mounting your art takes about 10 minutes, and you can reverse the process to remove the art or use the frame for another item.
In-Studio framing is a fully turnkey service. Ship artwork to our studio (we'll provide a prepaid shipping label and packaging if required), and our team will professionally frame and send it back ready to hang. This option takes two to three weeks and carries a small additional fee: $25 for up to 3 items, and +$10 for every 2 items after that.
Choose At Home for a fun DIY project and when you prefer to not send an items through the mail. Go for In-Studio if you are comfortable waiting a little longer for an end-to-end framing service.
