Unique and Frameworthy Movie Posters

5 places to find film posters online and how to frame them

Awards show season recently kicked off and the Oscars are coming up later this month, so what better time to talk about our favorite movies, television, characters and the artwork they've inspired?

Since the first day we started online custom framing, movie posters and prints have been one of most common categories to pass through our framing studio.

With this in mind, we've curated a list of some of our favorite places to shop for them online.

Bottleneck Gallery

Home to a rotating collection of limited-edition prints based on popular films and television, Bottleneck is an amazing place to hunt for new framed art.

You can sort by available releases (to skip over the many sold out items) or works specific to talented artists such as Matt Ferguson, AJ Masthay, Laurent Durieux among many others.

Bottleneck releases sell out quickly, so you need to be on your toes to grab one. Fortunately, if you are able to purchase a poster you love, you can add a custom frame to your poster (courtesy of Level Frames) and receive your new artwork ready to hang in the frame style of your choice.

Mondo

Mondo is another spot to find limited-edition posters and prints dedicated to your favorite shows and movies.

At any given time, they have a small, curated collection of frame-worthy posters for sale, along with other items such as albums (we love to frame all kinds of vinyl records!) and t-shirts.

You can find small obscure Italian horror films like Dario Argento's "Tenebraea" along with blockbuster, family-friendly hits like Pixar's "Toy Story" (both posters above).

Many of Mondo's releases are standard poster frame sizes such as 18" x 24" and 24" x 36", so you will have a range of framing options to choose from.

This Netherlands-based designer has an impressive collection of minimalist movie prints. Whether or not you ascribe to the Minimalism lifestyle, we can probably agree that it makes for some seriously cool posters.

In custom framing, the minimalist approach is sometimes the best way - a black, gallery style profile and an inch or two of white matting will always look clean and contemporary, allowing the artwork to stand out.

Just make sure to use museum-quality materials when you frame in order to preserve photos, posters and prints over the long haul.
